MICO Design Fitout (Sydney)

2006

A Retail showroom space targeting designers and specifiers facilitating their interaction between product and technology and the space which exhibits them. The inherent qualities of the space, such as the unique columns and exposed surfaces, provided a distinctive framework which Foster & Associates worked with to provide a unique display. The design endeavours to enhance the natural features of the volume. Sympathetic integration of elements such as the exposed rail system for the moveable display units emphasise the raw architectural aesthetic of the space.

The brief required the space to be flexible, with the ability to adapt for specific presentation needs and account for the variety and quantity of products to ensure easy identification, simplicity and flow within the space. This resulted in a central exhibition zone with exclusive areas to the perimeter of the shell, allowing the designer to explore the equipment and fixtures, viewing within a context. A distinctive promotions area exhibits the latest innovative products defined from the main exhibition area by a series of strong vertical blades. The technical zone educates the designer in terms of technology and operation of equipment. The interactive shower display demonstrates the effectiveness and efficiency of shower heads

The space has had an immediate impact within the design community as users realise the benefits of this unique flexible display environment.
